The latest movie adaptation of the classic fighting games takes its brutality very seriously.

The new Mortal Kombat trailer perhaps tells you all you need to know about what kind of violent over the top movie this is going to be.

The warrior known as Sub-Zero (Joe Taslim) stabs someone with his ice knife. And then, using his freezing powers, makes a second knife from the blood that spurts from that first wound. Yes, it’s pretty gnarly.

The trailer also gives the first good look at the latest live-action versions of Sonya, Kano, Raiden, Jax, Liu Kang, Shang Tsung, and Kung Lao, along with the dueling supernatural warriors Sub-Zero and Scorpion (the video game’s unofficial mascots). The new film is set to be a rebooted attempt to adapt the hyper-violent fighting game after the original Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat

Mortal Kombat, being a Warner Bros. release, is hitting theaters and HBO Max April 16.

Personal opinion: Sub Zero stole the trailer, his presence was unreal and he feels like a monster from a horror movie, he looks perfect and his voice is bang on. Joe Taslim is a beast.
