End of the road for LG phones
It seems like only yesterday LG were among the top Android brands. The name LG on a phone actually meant something when it came to the likes of the G3… Man, I miss those days.
Let me break it down for you, this is why LG is considering an exit to the smartphone after losing $4.5 Billion in the past 5 years.
LG smartphones were good. LG G3, G4, G6 caught the eyes. God knows what happened to them, they lost the tune somehow. Few things for which we should give credit to LG, are for introducing the first ever 18:9 aspect ratio smartphone display (LG G6), first-ever. dedicated wide-angle camera lens, modular smartphone ( LG G5). Can’t remember more.
Honestly, the recent software isn’t half bad. The biggest put-off about LG is probably the lack of commitment, whether that’s updated for their phones or keeping the cool innovative features a bit longer before killing them off…
The only reason Apple can win in this market is because they successfully stick to their guns about their OS and it’s unique to their hardware.
Pretty much all others rely on Android, so it’s a pure hardware play to differentiate. We need more OS platforms to shift the bar.
Sad but, yeah, just continue innovating on your other appliances where you are really competing.
